I don’t even know where to start...the beginning would be sensible, but I’m still lost in the end of it all, and I can’t get up!

Jump N Funk met Africa Hi Fi on the afternoon of March 23rd at The Marlin Hotel, and man...what a meeting it was. There was so much soul, love and spirit in the room that Ron Trent, Rob Rizk, Mark Hines and myself were kinda nudging each other in the ribs all day like “ Can you believe this shit?!?!?!?! This is fuckin’ incredible!!!!!!” the Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta and NYC party people in particular, led our new friends into a world they could not have possibly prepared for...y’all brought that hood/soul/freedom thing to it that we needed! We love y’all, and thank you for showing our new friends how we’ve been rocking together for years! Without you all there is no us! Know that! Stay tuned for youtubes and photos of this year’s event, as well as Dot Tunes streams of the entire live set coming soon!

Rob Rizk did his thingaling, as he usually does down in Miami with us, and we thank you Rob, for your consistently solid contribution to this event, for reals. Ron Trent and Sonia Hassan, your presence at the event was even more meaningful to us this year, considering we really couldn’t do it like we wanted to last year...but we more than made up for that, with Ron Trent spinning an incredible set of tunes to bring that Africa Hi Fi sound to the table for the peoples! Beautiful stuff man, and here’s to the next time we can rock together. Peggy, thank you for being a great traffic cop...lol... and keeping the party going when the powers that be threatened to pull the plug on us! Concep, your paintings were beautiful, and I would likke ot talk to you about having you sign them and allowing me to purchase them from you brother. You were killin’ ‘em on the floor AND with the brushes!!!

Mike McNamarra and Sammy Stormo, you guys always hold us down and make things right at game time. Thank you again for allowing us to do our thing with you, and here’s to more incredible events soon!!!

To all our JNF and Africa Hi Fi family respectively, both old and new, we thank you deeply for allowing us to experience you guys at your best, once again, down in Miami this year. We can only imagine how it’s gonna be when we all get to see each other, and dance and sing some more the next time! Peace and love y'all,

Well, it's about that time again...time for Jump N Funk to bring that Afro Beat/Afro Soul /Afro House sound back to the Winter Music Conference in South Beach. This year, JNF is once again teaming up with Africa Hi Fi from Chicago, to bring you the most soulful event on the beach at WMC '07!

Last year, Ron Trent got trapped at O'Hare Airport the day before our event, and unfortunately could not make it to Miami in time to rock with us as planned. Africa Hi Fi was represented lovely still by Sonia Hassan, and Africa Hi Fi's peoples mingling with JNF's peoples and our collective new peoples like family from across the highway
...but Ron was indeed sorely missed...

THIS year, we ain't missin' no planes baby...and our man Ron Trent ( Africa Hi Fi, Prescription Records, Chicago) will be in the place to be, alongside JNF co-founder Rich Medina, and our Canadian brother from another, Rob Rizk (Gman & Rizk, Vancouver BC). We are also happy to announce that our man Concep ( www.myspace.com/comcepcompany) will be doing an exclusive canvas painting, live!

You know how we do, so get your head together...it's gonna be another monster in Miami this year...

Rich and Ron have rocked together in Chicago a number of times, to incredible reviews, and each clearly brings what they bring to the table individually as storied selectors... But the their combined sound is known to have unbelievable side effects like... excessive sweating, impromptu moments of clarity, a newfound ability to finish that dance move you were working on for so long, measured trips to the bar to rehydrate, measured bathroom trips to check on the hairdo, and serious charliehorses within 24 hours...so be careful!!!

We look forward to seeing you in the sun. Travel safely, and here's to another historical afternoon for Jump N Funk and Africa Hi Fi on Friday, March 23rd!

What up peoples?
Last week's party at APT was beautiful! This week we seek more good looks! Tomorrow night is Little Ricky's Rib Shack at APT par usuale...11 to 4, bringing that heat, for 5 beans...

Thursday night is Jump N Funk at SOB's. Doors will open this month at 11, rather than 10pm as we have been opening usually.

As we prepare for Miami next Friday March 23rd, we'd love to see all of dancing NYC this coming Thursday to dance in the cold before we hit the beach!

The last few years in Miami have been some truly monumental dance moments for us... people spilling into the street on Collins Ave...Horse cops trying to figure out how to keep the dancing off the street without ruining people's day...lotsa sweaty women folk, and men folk with the respect to let 'em shake it without considering it an invitation to a rap video...and we can only hope for more of the same this year.
