THANK YOU ATLANTA AND SPREAD LOVE!
Let me just say up front that Atlanta's SpreadLove meets JumpNFunk party at 595 North this past Saturday was oatmeal hoagie incredible... DJ Kemit, you are a gentleman and a scholar. You and Aisha's event production game is through the roof these days too. Speaking on behalf of myself and Mark, it was a severe pleasure to be there. Here's to continuing to bring Atlanta that raw when we get together on the wheels. Looking forward to returning the favor for you at Props on February 16th!

THIS WEEK!
Heavy week for your man in NYC! Four different events, all with different looks and rationale...and y'all know me. Steady lookin' for the perfect beat...so we're gonna do our best to make each night memorable for it's own musical reasons...
Tonight we kick the musical week off at Toca Tuesdays at Sutra, with my man DJ Tony Touch ( Rock Steady Crew) and DJ June ( ScratchVision). Tony and his crew have been nice enough to make this month their "Master Of The Mix Celebration" month, hosting Just Blaze, DJ Scratch, DJ Jazzy Joyce, and myself tonight, so i'm amped to be a part of the celebration!
Tonight also marks the release date of Talib Kweli's "Gutter Rainbows", which we will be celebrating as well. Expect a nice serving of hip hop, beaks, reggae, and a few surprises from yours truly.

Tomorrow night the 26th of January, we get back to basics at Props with myself and DJ Akalepse manning the controls. As usual, we will have some unexpected video footage rolling, as well as Akalepse and myself going after those deep funk and soul nuggets alongside some hip hop, a pinch of R & B, some dance classics, and whatever else comes to mind like we always do about this time...

Me & my people at The Marksmen brewed up another infectious set of bangers for you to absorb in conjunction with the play...Love Afro Life!
Shouts to Gilles Peterson for the airplay last week! Oooooweee!
Rich Medina, The Marksmen, AfroStreet Records and MJFELA.COM present:
the prequel to The King Meets The President in Africa:
The AfroBeatles: FELA meets the Boys from Liverpool (The Black & White Album)
If Michael Jackson is The King of Pop, and Fela Kuti is The King of Afrobeat, then the Beatles are of course, the Kings of Rock & Roll. Dominating the music industry as a band, composers, performers and activists, The Beatles are icons of Rock & Roll, known as the best band ever. AfroStreet once again takes a bold move into remix/mashup territory bringing masters of entirely unrelated genres together in an epic blend just in time for the worldwide HD broadcast of FELA! Live from The National Theatre in London on January 13th. I'm about to make a new EPK, but my mans Pete Heacock and Sew did an amazing job on this one for me back in 2005. Joint got me a ton of work too praise God. Pete & Sew, thanks for taking this snapshot of my world while I was completing my first full length LP ( Connecting The Dots, Kindred Spirits USA /Studio Distribution 2005) . Here's to another dacade, and the possibility of working on the next one together gentlemen.
With that, i hope you enjoy this snapshot of where I was in life 6 years ago.
