Welcome to Summer
Wednesday, May 17, 2006 Peace everyone,I hope this mail finds you well. The road, the studio, and jetlag have been my masters for the last couple of months. On some days I haven’t known whether I was coming or going lately, with the amount of work coming through the pipe. It’s an incredible problem to have, and I thank God for it daily, but I feel that I need to apologize to the folks who ask me for my newsletters when I miss the chance to send them consistently. This has been the case for the last month and a half or so, and it has happened from time to time over the last few years when things have gotten hectic work-wise. I thank those who ask for the newsletter, because it makes us know that we are touching some people out there in the world, and that is really why we do what we do over here, you know? It’s been an administrative struggle from time to time, but rest assured that we are getting it all together, slowly but surely, and we plan to be blasting information weekly once again from richmedina.com and myspace.com/richmedina, as well as posting new tunes and video, once we complete our behind the scenes organizational moves.
Is it safe for me to say that the myspace things is bananas!?!?!? I know...i need to go get a late pass...but, damn! I get it now, and plan to rock hard there over the next few months without a doubt. So, to all my myspace peoples who have been reaching out, thank you for the encouraging words, downloads, songs, funny ass photos, and well wishes. I will be spending quite a bit more time on my page now that I really took the time to get it, and adding new music and info as of this coming week. Thanks in advance for your patience, and in retrospect for the support you’ve shown me on the site to date.
The past month has been nuts, with a European tour, Japanese tour, dates all over the map in the US, and new recording opportunities. One enormous love to Kindred Spirits Amsterdam, Phil and Helen Asher, Gilles Peterson, Best Kept Secret, Benji B, Radio 1 Xtra, Jazzy Sport, Louisa B, Eric, Ty and the rest of the people in Europe and Japan who made the tour so great. Much love also goes out to Morioka City and DJ Bar Dai, Akita City and Honeybee, LUXG and Shinoboo in Tokyo, and my Hanchinohe Japan peoples.
Kindred Spirits USA is still in search of a new US distribution house for our product, but we are hoping to close the door on that as soon as possible. Beyond that, we are for sale and doing well in Tower and Virgin still in the US, as well as releasing the Connecting The Dots LP in Europe and Japan over the last couple of months. For information on the Euro and Japan releases, please check out rushhour.nl, kindred-spirits.nl, and jazzysport.com. Any and all information regarding sales, new artwork, and the remix project is, or will soon be posted there. Lady Alma’s LP, Get To Know Me, is done and mastered too. We are awaiting finalization of her contract, and the we will begin our press campaign for her. The album is extra flavor, so it will be well worth the wait.
Looking forward, there are many new events coming up to compliment my residencies. The bulk of my May and June events are listed below in the events section of the mailer and posted on my sites, but here are just a few of te things to look forward to over the next 2 months...
