Just returned home from a great birthday weekend in Holland. First it was the Black Soil Festival in Rotterdam, where we held Jump N Funk for the first time in Holland! Love Afro Life! www.blacksoil.com. One love to all my Amsterdam crew for taking the trip one hour to Rotterdam to get younger with da kid! Special shout to Ty and DJ Spinna for the highlight moments of the festival in my eyes.

Sunday night (The God’s Born day) I got the chance to rock alongside my man DJ Leroy Rey, Phil Horneman, and Rob Manga at Wicked Jazz Sounds at The Sugar Factory. Thanks for the chance to rock fellas, and here’s to the next episode!

RICH MEDINA HAS BEEN NAMED THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE MIGHTY ROCK STEADY CREW!!!

Been snoring my brains out since returning from Europe on Monday. Trying to get ready for a huge week in NYC. The road has been my master over the years, as my long time friends well know. I feel truly blessed to travel the world because of poetry, music and the arts. It’s been a long strange trip to date, and last Wednesday night at APT, I got the surprise of my creative life. At about 1:15 AM, Crazy Legs and DJ DP One of The All Mighty Rock Steady Crew came by Little Ricky’s. Not surprising in one sense cause Legs has been my man for well over 13 years now, and me and DP have been cool as hell since our first introduction at last year’s “Yes We Can Can” event in The Bay. The crazy thing about them coming to the party was that they got on the mic to announce…

“ Ladies and gentlemen, Rich Medina is now officially the newest member of ROCK STEADY CREW!”

….maybe you didn’t hear me….what I said was that Crazy Legs officially made me a member of Rock Stead Crew on Wednesday, December 3^rd at APT!

I’m still kinda bugging off of that honestly. I’ve always been made to feel welcome and personally associated with RSC, but to get the Official stamp was really incredible. Thank you Legs, and I can only hope to represent the history and creed of RSC to my best ability. One love and big up all RSC family, known and unknown.

In other news, I got my first two movie royalties last week! I was in “Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins” for those who don’t know. Cop the DVD and check out the alternate scenes. I’m a blur in the actual film, but you can see the original part in the alternate scenes trailer. Thank you Malcolm!

JNF in NYC DEC 30 POSTPONED…

JNF at SOB’s on December 30^th has been postponed due to venue bookings, so stay tuned for news on the next JNF episode coming your way soon!

APT, SANTOS, AND SUNDAY SHOUTIN’ DECEMBER 14^th

Special shout to my man Mike Nyce for holding it down for me & Tip at Santos this pst Friday night! That’s my mans and them…get a late pass!

This week I’m rocking my usual sets at APT on Wednesday at Li’l Ricky’s, and Friday night at Santos with Q Tip at Open. Both Tip and I have been busy in and out of town, so Friday will be dope cause we are both home and rocking together for the first time in a few weeks… so it should be extra fried chicken and kool aid up in thurrrrr!

Sunday, I’m at Studio B in BK with Brian Coxx and my man Carlos Mena for Sunday Shoutin’! A new residency at Studio B, started up by John Davis (Body & Soul). I’m hoping that this Sunday will be the start of another long and healthy residency run for us all. Come on out and get your Sunday afternoon house and world music on with us! Doors are at 4pm, and the night ends at midnight unless y’all force your hand and make us play longer ( hint Hint…) so let’s make a point together this Sunday night!
